“Beautiful Perspectives,” an exhibit featuring artwork by Claudia Berenice Garza, will be on display at STC’s Technology Campus Library Art Gallery located at 3700 W. Military Hwy. McAllen, TX 78503. The exhibit will be on view from Sept. 16 through Dec. 10, 2010. A reception will take place on Thursday, November 4th, 2010 from 5:30-7pm. Admission is free and open to the public.

Garza was born and raised in Monterrey, Mexico and currently lives in the Rio Grande Valley. Garza earned her Associate of Arts in Visual Arts from South Texas College and her Bachelor of Fine Arts from The University of Texas-Pan American. She is a full time artist and art instructor. She also works on commission, including portraits and community murals.

She incorporates her own experiences, surroundings, influences and ideas into each work of art she creates. Well-known for her detailed, photo-realistic paintings and portraits, Garza crosses this artistic style of her past and forges into a new surreal aesthetic within her works that is conceptual and pleasing to the eye.

In regards to her new body of work Garza says, “I no longer reproduce colors or shapes as accurately as possible, but attempt to transform and depict in a painting the emotions and sentiments I feel within me.”

“Garza’s experiences and ideas of living within a bi-cultural environment have greatly influenced and inspired her work,” said Sofia K. Vestweber, STC’s Library Art Gallery Program associate. “This is an exhibit you won’t want to miss as Garza’s evolution as an artist has reached a pivotal moment of truth.”

STC’s Library Art Gallery Program exhibits regional, national and international artwork, explores new visions and theories of creativity, and introduces innovative artistic expressions to the South Texas region.
