Rio Grande Valley Real Estate Spotlight on Cindy Hopkins

Cindy Hopkins is currently a licensed Real Estate Broker in the State of Texas and working in association with Coldwell Banker/Impact Properties.  She holds a CRS (Commercial Real Estate Specialist) as well as a CREP (Commercial Real Estate Professional).  She has been appointed by my peers to serve on the Texas Association of Realtors as a representative for the Rio Grande Valley/McAllen area in the RCA (Real Estate Commercial Alliance) and has attended the TAR convention in Austin, Texas last month.

From Coldwell Banker/Impact Properties for 2006 she has been awarded the Presidential Elite award - an award that has only been achieved in this office from her broker, Joyce Benson, in the past nine years.  For 2006, she was awarded Rising Star award, Multi-Million Dollar Producer award, Top Producer in sales and became a member of the Sterling Society.

Cindy tell us a little about yourself before you started in Real Estate.

I have been in the Real Estate Industry for approximately 20 years, and have been selling residential and commercial real estate for the past 4 years.  I have worked in MANY areas of commercial real estate and am very familiar with it.

How did you decide that Real Estate was the best career move for you?

Working in Real Estate is EXCITING for me.  There is much competition, which I enjoy, and it is very fast-paced.  I LOVE this job, and there is nothing more exciting to me than Real Estate.

What type of obstacles did you have to overcome to be a Real Estate agent? What did you do in order to overcome those obstacles?

The biggest obstacle to overcome as a Real Estate Agent is that you are self-employed.  No one GIVES you a paycheck.  All monies earned are from hard work, since you are providing a service.  I overcame this obstacle by being self-sufficient and going to work every day, and on weekends, to make sure that my transactions closed and my clients were happy.

What have you done differently that has enabled you to reach your current station?

I have achieved higher success by WANTING higher success and educating myself with each transaction, every day occurrences, real estate classes, and a continual desire to do better - never give up.

What mistakes have you made and what did you learn from them?

As a real estate agent, the learning curve is IMMENSE.  You really never stop learning and growing - if you so choose.  I have made many mistakes, and fortunately have learned from those mistakes so that I don't make them twice.

How do you handle rejections?

Rejection? Never heard of it!  I don't believe that I have any competition and rejection, unfortunately, is part of the business.  Me, I just go on to the next client and don't waste my time with those that believe they do not need my services, expertise, knowledge or advice.

Did you have any critics or skeptics when you started Real Estate? If so, how did you deal with that?

I, luckily, did not have any critics or skeptics when I started real estate. I started with an excellent broker that only helped me and along the way have been very fortunate to surround myself with those persons that want to see me achieve higher success.  I am DETERMINED to make the most of this career choice and I LOVE real estate, which I think sets me apart.

What has been your biggest driving force in your success?

My biggest driving force in my success has been my DETERMINATION! Nothing was going to stop me from doing something that I have always wanted to do.

What advice would you give someone that wanted to be successful in the Real Estate.

My advice would be to get your real estate license, work with an ethical and supportive brokerage company, and see if this is the career choice for you. If its not, keep your license and find another career choice that you love to do.

What do you offer customers that other Real Estate agents do not?

I LOVE this job.  I LOVE to work with good clients, I LOVE TO show properties, I LOVE to look at the numbers, I LOVE all aspects of real estate.

What are your future goals for Real Estate?

The SKY IS THE LIMIT for me and the real estate industry.

What do you see as the future for Real Estate in relation to the
Rio Grande Valley?

I see the real estate industry getting better every year.  According to the statistics, Texas real estate is going to DOUBLE the national average for 2007! It's a Good Life!
