Network Express offers a fun, fast paced hour of networking that offers you the opportunity to interact with many individuals who you may have never otherwise had the chance to meet. Individuals attending the events will come from various lines of business, all sharing a common theme of servicing the Harlingen area. Using a roundtable concept, attendees are placed at tables and given time to introduce their company, products, services and client base to the others members at their table. When the whistle blows, everyone moves to a different table and the process begins all over again. When the hour is up, each person has met and exchanged business cards with up to 49 potential clients or customers. The next Network Express will be at Social Situations on Thursday, October 18, 2007, starting at 11:30 am with a complimentary lunch for HACC members ($10.00 non-members) courtesy of Wray & Company Creative Catering. If you are interested in participating, register at www.harlingen.com, call Cori Pena at the: 423-5565 ext. 214, or email cpena@harlingen.com. Location: Texas State Technical College
1902 N. Loop 499
Harlingen, TX 78550
Phone: (888) 433-7714 Current Weather
Map/Directions

The 2007 Wes Lepard Heart Walk will be held at Texas State Technical College Harlingen on Saturday, Oct. 13. Individuals, organizations and businesses are invited to enter the non-competitive, five-kilometer walk, and participate by increasing public awareness about heart disease. Walkers are urged to raise donations - set a goal of $150 per walker - for the AHA that support public education programs and fund life-saving research. Valley Baptist Health Systems President and CEO James G. Springfield is chairman of the 2007 Wes Lepard Heart Walk, which hopes to reach total donations of $100,000. Walkers and runners brought in more than $70,000 for pledges during the 2006 event under the chairmanship of TSTC Harlingen President Dr. J. Gilbert Leal. The event is named after Wes Lepard, a former board member of VBHS, who died of a heart attack. “Heart disease is not only the number one cause of death in the United States; it is something that has impacted my family for a couple of generations. Therefore, I am cognizant of trying to live a healthy lifestyle, especially a heart healthy lifestyle, and events like the Heart Walk help get that message to thousands of people,” Springfield said in a press release from the American Heart Association. To register online for the walk, go to www.heartwalk.kintera.org/harlingentx. The AHA Web site is at www.americanheart.org. For details, such as registration to enter as a team, phone AHA Senior Corporate Market Director Rebecca Taylor at 956.984.1213, 888.433.7714 or 956.536.4417. Her e-mail address is rebecca.taylor@heart.org. Or, phone Executive Assistant to the President Jackie Gilles in the TSTC Harlingen President’s Office at 800.852.8784, ext. 4023, or 956.364.4023. Her e-mail address is jackie.gilles@harlingen.tstc.edu. Information also is posted on the college’s home Web site at www.harlingen.tstc.edu.
