Rio Grande Valley Apartments Spotlight on Oak Terrace Apartments
I lived at Oak Terrace Apartments for a total of 3 years and two months before we bought our house. Before that, I lived in 7 other apartment complexes over 17 years. Most apartment complexes have there good and bad points. It’s kind of a give in take between quality and affordability. When you come across an apartment that meets all your expectations, it eases some of the stress in life.
When I moved back to the Rio Grande Valley, I conducted the normal search for an apartment. There were many to choose from and quite a difference in amenities and pricing. I decided to go with Oak Terrace Apartments at $730 a month. (The rent was increased to $765 a month in November of 2006.) I liked the fact that the property had a fence with an electronic gate, two swimming pools, tennis courts, a walking path, a basketball court, a small playground, a picnic area with tables, lights, power outlets, and two bathrooms, and nice landscaping. As for the apartment itself, it was 2 stories with 3 bedrooms, 2 ½ baths, a laundry room, and 1240 sq. ft. of living space. The wide stairwell and large tile floors were a nice touch.
What really stood out were the owners of the property, Mr. and Mrs. Daniels. They live directly on the property and were always willing to help. You could usually find them in the office during normal business hours. If they were not there, an assistant would be there to help you. If you had any problems, it was consistently taken care of the next day. I was always welcomed in the office with a smile and a helpful attitude. I don’t remember one time when the owners ever acted like I was disturbing them.
What’s even cooler than that? How about going the extra mile in the end? From my experiences a security deposit means that the landlord is secure in the knowledge that you will not be receiving your money back. I believe our security deposit was $250. I had told my wife to kiss it good bye. It’s a moving expense. She cleaned the apartment anyway and I helped a little. About a month after we moved, we got a refund check for $190 of our security deposit. They only charged us to deep clean the carpet which I have seen them do any time someone moved out. That is called integrity and it makes all the difference. You can find out more about Oak Terrace Apartments at http://www.oakterraceapts.com
