“A Magical Christmas” in the City of Hidalgo the entire month of December at the 17th Annual Festival of Lights. Enjoy the sights and sounds of the season with a drive through Hidalgo’s display of more than 2 million lights. The Air Conditioning & Refrigeration Technology Club at Texas State Technical College Harlingen and McDonald's restaurant at 2020 S. 77 Sunshine Strip in Harlingen are teaming up for a fund-raiser to benefit the club. ACR Club students are selling tickets for $1.50 to those who wish to enjoy an all-you-can-eat hotcake breakfast from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 2 at McDonald's, located on 77 Sunshine Strip near the intersection of Ed Carey Drive. ACR Club members will assist with cooking and serving during the event. Fund-raiser tickets must be purchased no later than Nov. 27. A Christmas event full of family entertainment, food and community celebration of the Holiday Season. The Arroyo Holiday Lighting features performances by local groups with a selection of holiday music and a special appearance by Santa Clause. The traditional program will show the many talents, and will include a variety of song and dance. Santa Clause will be there to make a special appearance for children of all ages. Limited seating in the park will be available. Those attending the program are encouraged to take a blanket or lawn chair to sit on the hill and a flash light. Parking can be reached off of Commerce Street by following the access road in front of the Valley Morning Star, and continuing under the Arroyo bridge. 25th Annual Candlelight Posada; The Posada will kick off with a lighted Christmas parade on Friday night at 7p.m. and continue throughout the night with plenty of entertainment for the entire family. The highlight of Saturday evening will be the Posada’s traditional procession re-enactment of Mary and Joseph’s search for inn. Each evening more than 30 booths will offer taste-tempting delights; the Main Stage will offer extremely talented musical entertainment and performances, and Little Town and Teen Town will provide fun and activities for children of all ages. Join us for the memorable event! Located at Historic Archer Park and begins on Fri. at 5-10p.m.; Sat. 5-10p.m. Admission is FREE.

2007 La Feria Lighting Christmas parade, Ninth Annual La Feria Lighted Christmas Parade. This year’s theme is “Music of Christmas on Parade”; the Parade will have floats, bands, classic cars, horses, drill teams and cheerleaders and much more. The Dallas Brass will be performing in concert at McAllen High School on December 12 at 7:00pm. The concert is presented by the Sharyland High School Band.  4th Annual Rock For Tots Metal Show. It will be Sunday 12/16/07 at Smiley's Ballroom in Harlingen, TX (exit Rangerville Rd.) Open to all ages. Show starts at 7:00 PM and the cover is a new toy. If you can't attend then please come by and donate a new toy. This was a big success last year and we hope to top it. Bands that will be performing are In Asunder, Embracing Doom, Deviousend, Axe of Vengeance, Sovereign Wrath, and Unbroken Loathe and maybe a few more. Rigor Mortis Records will also be there selling CDs, DVDs, t-shirts and miscellaneous heavy metal gear. Check out our website.
