Network Express

Would you like to have fun & make 49 NEW Business Contacts in an hour? Traditional networking events can sometimes be very unproductive. Network Express offers a fun, fast paced hour of networking that offers you the opportunity to interact with many individuals who you may have never otherwise had the chance to meet. Individuals attending the events will come from various lines of business, all sharing a common theme of servicing the Harlingen area. Using a roundtable concept, attendees are placed at tables and given time to introduce their company, products, services and client base to the others members at their table. When the whistle blows, everyone moves to a different table and the process begins all over again. When the hour is up, each person has met and exchanged business cards with up to 49 potential clients or customers. The next Network Express will be at Golden Palms Retirement and Health Center on Tuesday, February 12, 2008 starting at 11:30 am with a complimentary lunch for HACC members ($10.00 non-members) courtesy of The Chandelier Room. Valet Parking Courtesy will be offered. If you are interested in participating, register at www.harlingen.com, call Cori Pena at the: 423-5565 ext. 214, or email cpena@harlingen.com. A New Radio Station

KJAV on 104.9 FM is a new station to the valley. They play mostly rock n roll. The music time frame is from the 70s till the present. I like most of what I hear them play. Recently, I would leave 94.5, 106.3, and 107.9 because I didn’t like what they were playing and remember 104. 9. Usually there has been something on that I like. It does not cover the music that Bel is looking for, but it does help mix up the current rock scene better. I suggest checking it out. They also broadcast on 95.3 out of the Brownsville area.

International Museum of Art and Science presents “Torture Instruments from medieval times to Industrial Age.”

This exhibit was originally scheduled to be shown on January 11, 2008. However, due to problems passing these items through customs, the exhibit has been postponed to February. (I can only image what the customs officer that originally inspected the shipment must have thought.) The exhibit will be decorated like a dungeon. The over 40 pieces from Medieval times to old fashion electric chairs will be on display with pictures showing how the items worked. There will be an additional fee for the exhibit. At this time it seems that both prices will total under $20. Call the museum for confirmation of information. 956–682–1564.
