Marine Military Academy is a one-of-a-kind college preparatory boarding and USMC military-styled academy for young men 13-17 years of age, grades 8-12. The Academy, founded in 1963 by a retired U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Captain who believed USMC concepts of leadership and discipline are adaptable to prep school education, opened the doors in 1965 on the 142-acre site of a former Air Force navigation school, right next door to Valley International Airport.

Unique among all military secondary institutions, the Academy’s foundation is framed from the desire to emulate those tried and true Marine traditions and values that have earned the respect and gratitude of our great nation. The Academy challenges each Cadet to strive for excellence and his highest potential. Goals for personal excellence extend through academics, athletics/physical activities, moral and other personal endeavors. Find further information on the Academy’s web site: www.mma-tx.org, or contact the Academy’s Public Affairs Office: wieland@mma-tx.org ; (956) 421-9235.

Tours of the Academy are available for groups of 20-30 Mondays-Thursdays.  Tours run 10 a.m-12:30 p.m. and include lunch in the Academy’s Mess Hall. Cost per person is $5 for lunch. Contact Colonel Tom Hobbs, USMC (Ret)to schedule: (956) 423-6006 Ext. 363.

The Academy’s Iwo Jima Museum, Visitor Center and Gift Shop is located alongside the Iwo Jima Monument, maintained under the directorship of Gloria Boling and 47 volunteers. Open Monday-Saturday 10:00 AM-4:00 PM; Sunday 1:00 PM-4:00 PM.  For further information call (956) 421-9234; (800) 365-6006.

The Academy is accredited by Southern Association of Colleges and Schools and is a member of Texas and National Association for College Admission Counseling, The College Board, Association of Military Colleges and Schools. Every cadet is a certified member of U.S. Marine Corps Junior Reserve Officers' Training Corps (JROTC).
