According to DAVID HENDRICKS San Antonio Express-News, a group called USA NOW Regional Center will be opening one up in Edinburg at an expense of $20 million. This organization’s main focus appears to be helping people purchase their right to live in the United States. However, due to the devaluation of the dollar and our economic situation they feel it is the opportune time to invest in the U.S. thru real estate.
Ever since I was a young I have heard other countries are buying the United States right out from under us. Other countries seem to understand the value of investing in real estate and companies in the U.S. Why doesn’t our school system teach this to our kids? By the time we get out of college we are in debt; have no idea how to plan for the future, and have no formal education on how to invest our money. Ask people who are over 30 what their retirement plan is. You’ll be shocked by how many say they don’t know or “I’m just going to work till I die.” How sad. MSN Money quotes the following stats:
About 43% of American families spend more than they earn each year.
Average households carry some $8,000 in credit card debt.
Personal bankruptcies have doubled in the past decade.
Why don’t we learn a lesson from the Japanese and make having debt shunned upon?
At any rate, hopefully, this will bring even more jobs to the valley. I’m just surprised they’re building it in Edinburg. I thought Mission or Pharr would be a better spot to help capitalize off the business coming across the border.
