Hop Tung - McAllen

by Foodie
(mid-valley)

Chinese/Vietnamese restaurant located across the street from Barnes and Noble on Tenth in McAllen. It is hidden in a shopping center.

So far the most authentic Chinese food in the valley. The food is made to order and when you order it, nothing sitting under heating lamps.

They have daily lunch specials. The food is served family style=big servings for a family to share. I haven't tried too much of the Vietnamese menu. I tried the shrimp eggrolls/spring roll? (clear wonton wrap) with the peanut sauce. The eggroll is refreshing the peanut sauce is to die for. The place itself is always clean.

I have taken my three kids there and they love the food. The servers are accommodating towards families with kids if you ask. For example, extra silver ware, extra plates, napkins, lids on drinks, or a big spill.

The servers for the most part are pleasant. They could use some work on being attentive, but I tend to go when it is busy. The food may take a while to come out, but it is well worth it. They also have Boba drinks (tapioca) and I think some alcoholic drinks.
