FESTIBA 2010 Community Festival

by Sylvia
(Harlingen)

FESTIBA 2010 Community Festival is right around the corner! It will take place this Saturday, March 27, 2010 from 4 – 10 pm on the UTPA campus in Edinburg, Texas. Miguel Nevarez Drive (4th street) will be closed off to serve as the site of the event.

The FESTIBA main stage will showcase a special appearance by the beautiful Eva Longoria Parker, actress from ABC’s Desperate Housewives; Alacranes Musical, a popular duranguese band; Mariachi Vargas de Tecalitlán, one of Mexico’s finest musical treasures; and the talented Arlene Santana, TV hostess and young actress from ABC’s Grey’s Anatomy raised in La Joya, Texas.

The community will also be able to enjoy delicious festival food, buy artwork from vendors, and venture into the first-ever Book Fair by Follett in which the community will be able to purchase books at a discount price, participate in storytelling time with a famous children’s book character, see puppet shows, and take pictures with The Grinch and The Cat-in-the Hat!

This event is absolutely FREE and is open to the entire community.

UTPA hopes you will join us in our efforts to promote reading and early literacy to our South Texas youth. Please help us forward this information to your students.

If you have any questions, please call 956/381-3361.

Sincerely,

Carlos Fraire
