9/18/10 - My Hispanic Hero Art Contest
Is your Hispanic military hero famous—like Medal of Honor recipient World War II Sergeant Jose M. Lopez, whose statue is in Brownsville’s Veteran’s Park or a little known soldier–like Loretta Velasquez who disguised herself to fight in the Civil War? Or is your hero closer to home–like your aunt or dad?
Design a postage stamp featuring YOUR Hispanic Hero for a Hispanic Military Heroes Stamp Series. Write 2-3 sentences about why s/he is your Hispanic Hero.
Prizes include Antonio's Mexican Restaurant gift certificates, Gold's Gym Prizes, and Palo Alto grab bags!
Deadline is Saturday, Sept. 18. For rules and more information, email paal_interpretation@nps.gov or call 956-541-2785, ext. 333.
